Got 12 Quilts—>Go Quilters Go!!!

As disappointing as it is to see the Vancouver Canucks out of the playoffs after only one win, it is awesome that quilters and Canuck fans alike have stepped forward to make Canuck themed quilts for the children who access Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Twelve kits have been spoken for and we are hopeful that we’ll get to 16 before long.

Wizardous Sedinary

So far I’ve heard quilts are being designed after Jannik Hansen, Kevin Bieksa, Roberto Luongo, Cory Schneider, and Henrik & Daniel Sedin. And I’m going to make one designed after the Vancouver Canucks message from the 2011-2012 hockey season: We are all Canucks.
I found a blog post by a woman who’s child had need of access to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice and she writes about how much the Canucks do for children and their families.
I have also found this poem that sums up why I believe in quilters and the reason they make and give quilts. Many times a quilt is about love, healing, comfort and giving.
Love is a quilt–a quilt of love
Both love and a quilt should be
Soft enough to comfort you
Bright enough to cheer you
Generous enough to enfold you
Light enough to let you move freely
Strong enough to withstand adversity
Durable enough to last a lifetime
And given gladly–from the heart… Author Unknown…Happy Quilting, Valerie Raye
