July 1st is just around the corner and time for celebrating Canada’s 144th birthday. Red & white are the colours of the day, along with lots of food, games, song and laughter. It’s an awesome feeling to watch your 3 yr old grandson pick up a flag and start singing O Canada. Last year I made my first Canada Day lap quilt and purchased plenty of red and white fabrics to make more for family members. Unfortunately, even with the best laid plans no more Canada Day quilts materialized. As I reflect back on why not, I realize that a person would have to give up sleeping in order to accomplish this long list of quilts that I have. Now that the quilt challenges, class samples and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice quilts are complete I plan to place another red & white quilt at the top of the list. Two colour quilts are fun to work with and I especially like the red and white contrasts.
Happy Canada Day!
