March 2013 Sewing Day

Sewing days at Chesapeake Landing are always delightful. We look forward to seeing all the participants and the projects they are working on. Today was no different. ;)

Show & share is so inspiring…seeing a photo of a quilt is just not the same as actually seeing and touching one! It’s especially fun when a quilt is being pieced at the sewing days and then shows up as a complete flimsy. We had a couple of those today. :)

The picture to the right is of Lorraine assembling her Just an Illusion mystery quilt last January. So far we have seen 10 of these mystery quilts completed and there are at least 5 more that are being worked on.

Lorraine’s completed flimsy is on it’s way to see Joan and Maybelline. This is such a pretty quilt. I can’t wait to see all the different colours of this mystery.  We are planning on having a “flash mob” quilt show in Stanley Park in mid June…just imagine all the colour! A picnic in the park! And such fun! Date TBA so stayed tuned.

As usual we had a wonderful lunch made by Joan: Chicken sandwiches on whole grain bread with a lovely spinach salad and a dessert of fruit & yogurt over meringue cookies. The all day cookies were a hardy Quilter’s Cookie and extremely addicting!  Here is the recipe: Quilters’ Cookies.

Happy Quilting….Valerie Raye
