May the 4th Be With You

We had a choice between Cinco de Mayo or May the 4th Be With You as our May theme. Two years ago, when the Canucks were in the 2nd round of the playoffs, we celebrated Cinco de Mayo and I cut out early to take in a playoff game with my kids. This year, as the Canucks (eventually) got swept in the 1st round, we decided to go with The Force. I’m still trying to reconcile this defeat in my mind even though I won’t have to reconcile the $$’s for 2nd round playoff tickets that never were :(   No! Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try. (YODA, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back) —> Ok then, I AM looking forward to next year. ;)

As always, Joan served up an awesome lunch: Greens of Endor, Jabba the Hut Savoury Buns (aka Princess Leia buns), Obi-Wan Cannoli for dessert with Yoda Soda to quench our thirst. The day long treats included Chewbacca chewie cookies and Han’s Rolo treats.

Patti got right into the spirit and came dressed as Princess Leia…so much fun! Her Princess Leia “buns” were made from pot scrubbers…great idea.

We got to see 3 more Just an Illusion quilts and seeing them together makes us want the June 16th Quilt Flash Mob to arrive quickly! Two more Canuck quilts were being assembled, bringing us much closer to the end of this years campaign.

The weather was wonderful, and we spent more time than usual sitting outside in the sunshine after lunch on the patio. Quilt gatherings like this are always refreshing and inspirational. We have one more to look forward to before summer break. It will be a “Mile-a-Minute” kind of day.  ”If no scrap quilt have you made, scared you are…THIS scrap quilt should you make.”

Happy Quilting…Valerie Raye
