We are in the final days of getting the Canuck quilts ready for the children and their families at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. The campaign started early this year with Joan quilting the first one back in January. This coming long weekend we’ll be back at it with 8 quilts lining up to be quilted on Maybelline. Wow! We will only be waiting on one more quilt to be finished and then it’s pretty much a wrap for the 2013 I Believe in Blue campaign. And, as instructed by Yoda, I have put the first round sweep behind me!! Team Canada is my “only hope” for a championship this year so I’ve focussed my energy over there…Go Canada Go!
Monday/Tuesday this week our sister Patricia Marie arrived in Mill Bay and we completed two more quilt tops and the blocks for a third quilt. Pat worked on a quilt commemorating Henrik Sedin’s 783 pts that make him the Canucks all-time scoring leader. Right now he is in Sweden playing for Sweden in the World Championships. Tomorrow he is going to play against Team Canada in a “win or go home” game. Since he is Swedish, I think it would be ok if he lost and went home since it’s probably just across town anyway! Go Canada Go!!
Each year my son Sean sponsors a Canuck quilt and this year his is dedicated to Manny Malholtra. Yes, he hasn’t played since February but he is and always will be a Canuck! I hope Manny choses wisely and retires from professional hockey and helps the Canucks learn from his expertise in the face off circle…take a job with the Canucks training staff!!! We need you Manny!
It’s back to the sewing machine…I have one Canuck quilt to assemble and the borders are all that is left for my “Anticipation” quilt…one or two more things to cross off my list!
Happy Quilting…and Go Canada Go!! Valerie Raye
