Last July Maple Leaf Quilters was asked if we would like to donate a quilt for the 9th Annual “Gift of Time Gala” held at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver, B.C. http://www.thegiftoftime.org/ We were pleased to say yes we would!
I designed the quilt pattern thinking that we might be able to use it for next years 2014 quilt campaign. That’s not going to happen…I was afraid our quilters would abandon the project once they had to start matching points. Joan machine embroidered 2 goalies and 10 hockey players for me and they’ve been set to start a game. The name of this quilt is “Game Day.” The pantograph used to quilt it is called “Happy Times.” This quilt is going to be part of the silent auction that will also have signed Canucks jerseys and other wonderful stuff to bid on. As well, we will have a gift certificate for making another custom quilt, one that will be personalized in a different colour with their child’s name on it and embroidery/applique’s of their choice. We are thrilled to be doing this. Those 49 quilts that we have delivered over the last 3 years are a big reason why we were asked to participate. The staff knows the love and dedication that goes into each quilt. Thank you once again to all our quilters who have made/sponsored quilts for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. And here is our 50th quilt!
Happy Quilting…Valerie Raye
