I did get my 6 breast cancer pillows made but they are yet to be delivered. Pat and Jackie also made pillows bringing the total to 12. Pat has made and packaged a dozen cards to donate to the patients at the chemo unit. Love this latest card using pink! She is so busy it seems that she hasn’t been keeping her blog updated but check out some more of her beautiful cards under “labels.” We’ll be delivering the pillows and cards next week. http://stampingwithkokirose.blogspot.ca/
As I’ve said, I have been busy with a wide variety of things including working through my fabric stash and UFO drawer…that’s where the pattern with fabrics wait their turn.
I’ve made several of these table toppers from a free pattern from the blog of the Crafty Quilter…this one was made for my son Sean and his fiance Kayla on the occasion of their engagement. I used appliqued hearts instead of the winter seeds in the original pattern.
This “Celebrate” quilt was inspired by a card made by Patricia to celebrate Canada Day 2011. It had been in the UFO drawer far too long. Unfortunately for me some of the leaves had already been fused onto the backing squares. I don’t know what type of fusible I was using but it created some terrible thread breakage while doing the applique. After doing 2 leaves I opted to make more leaves and save my sanity. It is now waiting for me to get it sandwiched so I can start quilting it…backing is ready, batting is ready…now it’s my turn to get ready!
I am really excited to see this “Baby Honu” quilt finished. Joan brought me the pattern and turtle batik back from a trip to Hawaii in 2009. It too was ready to be out of the drawer…just two more appliques and then assembly of the quilt top can begin.
I’ve also completed a couple of table runners using my New Zealand Christmas fabric. Can’t wait for December to arrive so I can start using mine. Since the other is a Christmas present I can’t post pictures.
Happy Quilting…Valerie Raye
