Placemat Challenge

Before I left on holidays I put a small challenge out there using labels. I’ve been busy making custom bed size quilts and now want to have a little creative fun. Back in the winter of 2012 I participated in a CQA challenge with the theme of Sunshine & Vines…I chose to use the Fat Tire label I’d been saving in my journal for just the right time. I think it’s time to try another label and this time I will be making placemats. There is no theme, just find something that inspires you!

When we were away doing the Scenic Sip Wine Tour in Winfield/Kelowna there was a lot of checking out the labels! Same goes for our time spent at Pt. Roberts for the quilting retreat! :) :) :) Great way to check out different brands and flavours.

When my good buddy Wanda returned from her trip to Newfoundland she presented me with these awesome little bottles of wine. Pretty awesome considering she doesn’t like wine! Mom drank the bottle that’s open and I haven’t tried the others but the labels will make for a great set of place mats.

You don’t have to drink wine or beer to find a fun label to use.

I mean, who wouldn’t like those cute little peanut butter bears looking up at you from a place mat? There are lots of cool looking maple syrup labels too…the inspiration is endless.

Make one, make four, you decide. The size I’m going for is that of a regular placemat: 17 1/2″ x 12 1/2.”

I pledge to have mine done by Christmas, hopefully you will join me in having a little bit of fun!

Happy Quilting…Valerie Raye
